DIY Simplicity 8458 Et 8386

For Simplicity 8458 I used a size 20 but I took off  1.5 inch, so next time I will size down  in the waist and grade to the 20 for a puffy skirt. The skirt itself was quite simple to make although there are somethings I would do differently. For instance I sewed the lining and skirt as one piece, on the next go round I would attach them at the waistband and sew them separately. I think that would make hemming a bit easier.  Speaking of Hemming. I waited until I got my Petticoat to complete (which was an excellent idea) because I took off over 5 inches. I did like the original length of the skirt and am searching for a  longer petticoat.
The fabric was a party print from Joann Fabrics and it took me forever to find a matching pink for the top.

For Simplicity 8386 I added flowers to the bodice. The shirt itself seemed to regular without some additional items.

DIY Simplicity 1346 Et Simplicity 8386

I was so happy to have finished this outfit and I love the way it came out. The shirt is a stable knit polka dot from Joann fabrics Simplicity 8386. What can I say, I love this pattern, it is so easy to make and I don't think it will ever go out of style. Wear it on should or off shoulder its still cute.

The skirt is a cotton also from Joann fabrics with white anchors. Simplicity 1346, is also super easy to make although I'm not sure that I like where it hits on my torso, its still a cute summery skirt.

McCalls 6515

My Pants were made from McCalls 6515. As soon as I saw the pattern I knew it would do for my 1940's style trousers. The fabric is a stretch denim and it did not hold the creases in the legs like I would have liked but I like the jeans nonetheless. I used a size 14 then did a significant crotch adjustment, followed by taking the sides in a bit.  The buttons I have were from a dress that I did not like. I simply grabbed the buttons off and marked them on the pants. The zipper and hooks and eyes are on the side seam.
Overall this was a very easy pattern to make up and I do plan on making more in knit fabric.
Fabric from Pat Catans:
75% Cotton
23% Polyester
2% Spandex

I love wingtip shoes I purchased them from amazon :
Guilty Shoes

Simplicity 1692

I decided to start my Vintage year off with Simplicity 1692. My fabric is a fleece from Joann Fabric with 70% Rayon and 30% Cotton. It  is extremely soft. For the top I graded the front bodice up one size then completed a 1/2 FBA. Upon the fitting I realized the neckline would be too big so I kept the 14 for the neckline and upper bust then graded the rest . I took the remaining waist intake in with one of the darts. I really like this top and plan to make a couple of more. I got rid of the zipper as I didn't need it to get the garment on and off. I kept the back at a size 14 and needed no additional alterations for it.

When I was deciding which buttons to get I really wanted the floral ones, but I felt the pink ones would be better, and they were smaller.:(. I also used a floral button for the top back bodice. My fabric was thick and it was a bit of a hassle to get the button hole to sew right.

Love, Love, Love the neckline on this blouse.

McCalls 6757 et Simplicity 8386

For this outfit I used McCalls 6757 which I have reviewed before Here and Simplicity 8386.
For the simplicity top I lengthened. My starting size was a 14 I used a ponte knit and kente print for fabric.I do like the ease of fitting but I really did not like the neckline on the original pattern so I decided to add a flounce.
I am still looking for other neckline finishes that I think will look better for the top.

For the Skirt I used a stretch denim. I omitted the pockets, front pleats and back vent. I kept the back pleats and added a side zipper with hooks and eyes. The waistband was hand sewn I don't mind stitch in the ditch but I've been getting better results through a simple hand stitch.

Vintage Practice Drafting

First and Foremost I am in love with these sun glasses below, Perfect for  50's styling.
I am beyond tempted to buy another pair in a different color. Secondly be sure to buckle up!!

Okay, so here we are with another vintage practice make. It was pretty hard matching these pinks.
I wanted to test out the look before making it in my full size, because I was unsure of how the pinks would match up.. I drafted a circle skirt and off the shoulder top. The skirt has a pink tulle petticoat underneath. I was actually very pleased with the overall look and the ease with which the stripes lined up. Be on the look out for the full version in which I am using Simplicty 8386 for the top and Simplicity 8458 from my pick nine!

                                                                       Ah and of course.

Butterick 6326

This was a rather simple make. When I saw the pattern I already had the fabric picked out :) A stretch denim, which I had in my stash but due to it being only 2 yards had yet to use. I started with the size 16, then went down to a size 12. Did a swayback adjustment as well as pegging the hem 2 inches on each side. I did not top-stitch, I added an invisible zipper in the side seam and I shortened the hem.
I think this is a very nice pattern to have, as this can be made in so many different colors and fabrics.
I definitely plan on making a couple of more, I think a stretch red denim would be perfect, as well as a pinstripe.

And of course, I could not leave you without photo's of my flock members

Ciao Bunny!!!
